The taper on the old iron wasn't at all uniform. The wedge seemed to be a perfect fit with a new one, however. I was already making a few side beads. I told myself that I could just practice on this small one that I'm borrowing from a friend. I couldn't help myself. It just happened.
Faster than the speed of sound...
You could do the same thing with a snipes bill and a #1 hollow. It would take about twice as long.
It's a sweet little plane.
